Khobuntin, Camson thankful for new journey with Mahindra

In a trade that Tiebreaker Times broke last Thursday, Glenn Khobuntin and Eric Camson were shipped by the NLEX Road Warriors through a four-team trade to the Mahindra Floodbuster. But it was a move they welcomed with open arms.

The two cagers have found a new home in Mahindra under coach Chris Gavina, and they debuted for their new squad on Sunday night against the Blackwater Elite. It was their very first game with the Floodbuster, but they made an immediate impact.

In the Floodbuster’s 96-87 victory that halted their six-game skid, it was the new acquisitions that brought the much-needed spark. Khobuntin fired 15 points on 11 shots in 25 minutes, while Camson finished with nine markers, three rebounds, and two assists in 18 minutes.

“Great, amazing effort from our new guys, Glenn and Eric,” lauded Mahindra coach Chris Gavina of the two.

“I think have really bought in quickly. They’ve only been with us for three days, and they’ve had an immediate impact towards the rest of our guys, and our guys have embraced them.”

And for the two UAAP products, Khobuntin and Camson are nothing but thankful for the new opportunity given to them by the Floodbuster, as they now have a chance to show what they can actually do.

“Yun masaya,” said Khobuntin, a National University product.

It may just be their first game in a new uniform, but the frontcourt duo have shown flashes of what they can bring to the table for the Floodbuster.
