“Siguro tapos na (yung slump) kasi nakatsamba ako ulit eh. Tapos pumapasok yung three points ko.”
These were the words of hope from Terrence Romeo, GlobalPort’s spitfire guard, who broke out of his slump and erupted for 30 points to help his team in pulling off a king-sized upset against the mighty Talk N Text.
Romeo has been struggling the past few games, but once he caught fire, not even the slump, his defenders nor the Tropang Texters could stop him.
He made five triples and nearly went perfect from the foul line, sinking nine of 10 attempts.
Romeo is beginning to reap the benefits of all the extra work he put in. Prior to the start of the season, the former Far Eastern University stalwart tried to lose some weight to get faster and more efficient in playing the crucial position of combo guard.
Of course, the former UAAP MVP also put extra emphasis on shooting.
“Nage-extra shooting ako. Mas maaga ako sa gym, nag-jajogging ako. Pinilit ko maging in shape. Yung mga ginagawa nung depensa sakin pinag-aaralan ko. Lahat ng ito, worth it naman,” he added.
For Romeo, the team’s victory over Talk N Text boosted the entire team’s confidence. “Malaking dagdag kumpiyansa ito kasi unang-una yung tinalo namin ilang beses silang champion sa PBA. At least alam namin sa sarili namin kaya naming manalo sa malalakas din na team. Di kami magre-relax, mas magpe-prepare pa kami,” he added.
