Nash Racela to TNT, now official – reports

Far Eastern University Tamaraws head coach Nash Racela will be named as the head coach of the TNT Katropa for the 42nd Season of the PBA.

According to reports, the 44-year-old mentor had been officially tapped as the head coach of the MVP Group-banked team on Saturday evening. Sources from the report stated that the officials of the team held a meeting in Makati City with now-former head coach Jong Uichico present as well.

Racela had served as an assistant coach to TNT for the past 10 years. He was then asked to be the mentor of the Morayta cagers back in Season 76. In his third season with FEU, he was able to steer the team to the top of the UAAP pyramid, earning numerous Coach of the Year awards in the process.

Even with the appointment as TNT head coach, Racela will finish his duty to FEU, according to a source. He will only be allowed to serve as the club team’s chief mentor after the UAAP season. Back in 2012, Norman Black had to honor his contract with the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles before he was moved to Talk ‘N Text. Ironically, it was Racela who had taken over the Tropang Texters on a temporary capacity.
