Fajardo takes Pomi coach’s compliments in stride

The PSL-F2 Logistics Manila are currently on a mission to prove that Filipinas can stand with best players in the world as they tackle the 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship.

One player who turned heads immediately was Kim Fajardo. The diminutive setter recovered from a poor first outing and got PSL-F2 Logistics’ offense churning in their loss to Pomi Casalmaggiore.

F2 Logistics’ local setter played well in transition, setting up plays even after  poor receptions and digs.

“Definitely the setter,” said Pomi head coach Giovanni Caprara when asked who from the host squad had impressed him most.

“I thought she executed their fast attack well. Even when they were transitioning from a dig, she still managed to make plays in the middle.”

Even Pomi’s team captain, Valentina Tirozzi praised Fajardo’s play.FIVB-CWC-F2-Logistics-PSL-Manila-vs.-Pomi-Casalmaggiore-Valentina-Tirozzi-0847 Fajardo takes Pomi coach's compliments in stride 2016 FIVB Women's CWC News PSL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“She played really well. She set a lot of attacks to the middle and we really struggled with that,” Tirozzi admitted.

On her part, Fajardo stressed that her goal is not to impress the foreign coaches. She would rather show everyone watching that they can stand their ground against foreigners.

“Hindi ko talaga iniisip ‘yun [praises from foreign coaches]. Hindi naman sa hindi ko na-appreciate, ang goal ko talaga kasi is matulungan ‘yung team namin na mapakita na kaya din namin – na kahit mas maliit tayo, kaya nating makipagsabayan sa kanila (foreign teams),” Fajardo stressed.

“Sa totoo lang kasi, hindi ako satisfied sa nilalaro ko. Alam kong may mailalabas pa ako at mas makakatulong pa ako sa team,” promised the two-time UAAP Best Setter.
