“Magnifico” will face a different opponent a week before fight night.
Mark Magsayo (14-0, 11KO) will defend his WBO Intercontinental featherweight belt against a new challenger, as his original opponent Ruben Garcia has been forced to pull out of their scheduled fight due to injury.
Stepping in his place on a week’s notice is compatriot Ramiro Robles (13-5-1, 8 KOs). The 23-year-old native of Guanajuato has just come off a TKO victory in his home country and is looking to upset the undefeated Magsayo.
“Mark Magsayo will instead be fighting Ramiro Robles after Ruben Garcia’s team informed ALA Promotions that their fighter got injured late last week.” ALA Promotions PR manager Chelna Locaylocay said.
In addition, Filipino-American boxers Joel Siapno and Ben Garcia are slated to compete in the undercard, facing Isaac Freeman and Latorie Woodberry respectively.
Longtime light-flyweight champion Donnie Nietes headlines the card as he moves up to flyweight to face Edgar Sosa for the vacant WBO Intercontinental flyweight belt, while Arthur Villanueva and Juan Jimenez will square off once again for the WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title.
