Cargo Movers swiftly dispatch Amy’s Spikers

The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers romped the Amy’s Kitchen-Perpetual Lady Spikers, 25-13, 25-14, 25-23, to remain unscathed in the 2016 Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference women’s volleyball tournament, today at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The win also puts the Cargo Movers solo at the top spot in the standings, but Head Coach Ramil De Jesus was careful not to make her players overconfident.

“Lahat naman talaga ng teams malakas kaya kailangan talagang paghandaan lahat,” the UAAP Champion coach said about the competition in the PSL.

F2 looked lethal early and took the opening set, 25-13, led by game top-scorer Kim Dy who had a total of 12 points, 10 of which came from attacks.

Carrying the momentum, the Cargo Movers once again took the second set with ease. They outshone the Spikers in attacks with 16, compared to Amy’s seven in the second set. F2 took finished the set with a block and an attack by Mary Ann Baron, her only points of the game.

Amy’s Kitchen, however, the Cargo Movers a scare in the final set. The Lady Spikers led early in the third set, 3-0, but the Cargo Movers replied with a 6-0 run.

“Naumpisahan kasi ng errors nung third set, tapos nagka-kumpiyansa naman ‘yung Amy’s. Medyo nagkagulo rin yung sa side namin,” added De Jesus.

Amy’s Kitchen was also leading 20-18, but an untimely service error by middle hitter Lourdes Clemente and a rotation error brought the set to a tie, 20-20.

The Cargo Movers used the sudden momentum shift to take the set, 25-23, via attacks from Ara Galang and Stephanie Mercado, who scored 10 and five, respectively.

De Jesus admitted he would rather had Amy’s win the final set to test his team’s character.

“Actually kanina, mas gusto ko pa ngang nakuha ng Amy’s ‘yung set e. Para makita natin kung anung meron ‘yung team. Ma-test man lang para makita natin kung ano pa ‘yung kailangang ayusin sa team,” he closed.

F2 Logistics (2-0) will have one week of rest before they face Generika (1-1) at the Cuneta Astrodome, while Amy’s Kitchen (0-2) will face Foton (1-1) on Tuesday, also at the Cuneta Astrodome.
