Forwards Mac Belo and Russell Escoto of reigning UAAP basketball champions Far Eastern University are still uncertain about returning and suiting up for the Tamaraws in Season 79.
Both Belo and Escoto said they have not yet made a decision regarding the matter, although a return to the UAAP remains in consideration.
“Di ko pa alam. Di pa sure. Pero open naman ako,” Escoto said Thursday.
“Sa ngayon, pinag-iisipan pa,” Belo added.
Belo, who has been instrumental in FEU’s return to the podium as he led the Tamaraws in the Season 78 finals series, also said his main focus right now is the PBA D-League.
“Wala pa naman (desisyon). Lagi nga kami naglolokohan (ni Russell). Ganun-ganun lang. Pero wala pa kaming desisyon,” Belo shared. “Basta focus muna sa D-League.”
The UAAP, according to reports, has abolished the seven-year playing window for student-athletes thus making both Belo and Escoto still eligible to play for the FEU Tamaraws. Currently, both Belo and Escoto play for the Phoenix Accelerators.
Escoto added if ever given a chance to play again for FEU, the two shall try to defend the school’s crown.
“Siguro kung may chance, malay mo bumalik kami, lalaro kami para i-defend yung crown. Maglalaro kami ng maayos,” Escoto shared.
But for now, everything is still uncertain for both.
“Wala pa naman. Hindi pa naman namin alam kung magp-PBA kami or Gilas,” Escoto added.
Belo and Escoto are also members of the Gilas Pilipinas cadet squad.
