WBC vacates Silver Flyweight crown; Petalcorin-Kimweri result stands

The World Boxing Council has come into a decision with regards to the case presented by Filipino fighter Randy Petalcorin and his camp with regards to his WBC Silver Flyweight championship bout against Omari Kimweri held at the The Melbourne Pavilion in Victoria, Australia last April 15, 2016.

In a decision released Tuesday afternoon (Philippine time), the WBC decided to vacate the Silver Flyweight crown. However, the sanctioning body did not reverse the split decision loss and the result will still stand.

Petalcorin (23-2-1, 18KO) was able to drop his opponent on several occasions during the bout. However, referee Malcolm Bulmer missed those calls resulting to Petalcorin losing the bout via a 114-113, 112-115 and 112-115 split decision.
