Randy Petalcorin’s JC Manangquil hopes that World Boxing Council will favor their side regarding his fighter’s controversial loss to Omari Kimweri last April 15, 2016, for the vacant WBC Silver Flyweight title in Fleming, Australia.

The fight was marred with controversy after the 24-year-old had dropped his opponent on several occasions, which referee Malcolm Bulmer missed. Petalcorin lost via 114-113, 112-115 and 112-115 split decision, much to the chagrin of boxing fans and pundits.
“Positive sana. I know na gagawin ng WBC yung dapat nilang gawin but let’s see, all we can do now is wait. We’re positive na ma-change ‘yung decision,” Manangquil told Tiebreaker Times at the conclusion of his promotion’s Brawl at the Mall event held at the Makati Cinema Square, Saturday Night.
While there is still a bitter taste in his mouth regarding what happened, the Sanman Boxing promoter remains positive over WBC’s decision to review the fight. He expressed optimism on the council’s decision, which is expected to be handed today, Philippine time.
“Siyempre we’re upset with what happened but like I said, may protest tayo na ginawa,” he said. “WBC told us na we’ll get an answer (today).”
“We’re waiting on that but now we’re very confident na may gagawin ang WBC about dun sa nanyare kasi obvious na obvious yung nangyare sa amin eh,” he closed.
