BIÑAN, LAGUNA – The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers earned a pivotal win, sweeping the Foton Toplander 25-22 , 25-12 , 25-19, in the final match of the first phase of the Philippine Superliga Invitationals at the Alonte Sports Arena.
F2 built leads in each of the three sets only for Foton to mount a rally at set point. The Cargo Movers ahead 24-20 in the opening set before a 3-0 Foton run sapped all their momentum. But a Dana Henson hitting error gave the set to F2 just in the knick of time.
The second set almost mirrored the first as a 23-17 lead dissipated and Foton got as close as 23-22. Again Foton ended the set with attack errors to hand F2 another set. After a spirited talk from head coach Mayi Prochina, F2 put away the Toplander early in the third frame.
“Kulang pa talaga kami sa conditioning. Medyo may alanganin pa ‘yung players ko din. Once na maging mas light kami maglaro, pakiramdam ko mas gaganda pa ang laro namin,” Prochina said.
Team captain, Cha Cruz led F2 with 14 markers while her fellow La Sallian Aby Maraño addee 13.
Former Tigress, Maika Ortiz tallied 11 points for the Toplander while Patty Orendain and Angeli Araneta each pitched in 10 points.
F2 (2-1) will next see action against the New San Jose Builders (0-3) on March 8 at the FilOil Flying V Centre. Foton (1-2) takes on Army (3-0) next on March 15 also at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
