The Alaska Aces battled the Blackwater Elite Friday without Dondon Hontiveros and Eric Menk, whom head coach Alex Compton said were given time rest by the team.
“Him (Hontiveros) and Eric (Menk) are just resting. They’re 38 and 41,” Compton said.
Not having the two veterans also gave the Aces some time to field in Kevin Racal (12:34) and Josh Vanlandingham (4:52) in the wing rotation and Sam Eman (13:33) in the frontcourt. The Aces lost, 107-101.
Import Rob Dozier, though suited up, also did not play in the game. Compton said “he hurt his foot” and that it is “serious enough to give me concern.”
“We will see. I don’t know. That’s something about an import conference. A guy gets injured, what do you do? So that’s just something I got to do,” the mentor added.
Dozier played in two conferences for the Aces, including the 2013 Commissioner’s Cup where he won the Best Import of the Conference plum while leading Alaska to the title.
