Terrence Romeo was left puzzled after being held down again by the Alaska Aces in Game 4.
On the brink of elimination, Romeo just hopes to find a way around the stifling defense that has had him struggling for three straight games now.
“Apat na tao yung nilalagay nila sa akin paiba-iba. Hindi lang sa akin pero sa ibang teammates ko din maganda yung depensa na binibigay nila,” a frustrated Romeo said.
After firing a career-high 41 points on 12-for-21 shooting in the series opener, Romeo went 8-for-19, 7-for-23, and 9-for-21 from the field in the next three games.
Aces head coach Alex Compton praised his troops for making the adjustments defensively,
“I can’t ask for anything more. I thought the guys responded really well. Nobody on our team is stopping them one on one. It doesn’t change how explosive they are . It’s just five guys committed,” Compton said of the team’s defense against Globalport’s main backcourt tandem.
Compton added even if Alaska is already near the finals, Globalport is still an explosive team and it was a matter of how to stop them as a whole.
“My view on Globalport has not changed but I am just proud of our guys’ defensive effort,” he said.
Though Romeo has a difficult time trying to figure out what to do the next time, he stays positive.
“Ako, hindi ko rin ma-analyze eh, nahihirapan rin ako. Basta, positive na lang na makaka-bounce back kami,” Romeo said.
