Enjoying immense success in the 3×3 discipline over the past two years, the Philippines shall make its FIBA 3×3 World Championships debut in the 2016 edition in Guangzhou, China in October next year.
An increase in the FIBA 3×3 Federation Rankings merited the Philippines one of 20 slots in the men’s event, as the country is one of the most active when it comes to 3×3.
It will be first time the Philippines joins the 3×3 World Championships.
The championships will take place outside the Tianhe Sport Complex from October 11 to 15, 2016, the first time the event shall be staged in Asia after tournaments in Athens, Greece (2012), and Moscow, Russia (2014).
Qatar is the defending 3×3 men’s world champions while the United States is the reigning titlists in the women’s division.
The tournament also features a dunk contest for men, a skills contest for women, and a mixed shootout contest.
