The Blackwater Elite and NLEX Road Warriors kept their hot streak going after respective wins in PBA Dickies 3-on-3 women’s basketball tournament Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Blackwater improved to 4-0 with an 11-8 win over Barako Bull Energy, tying Alaska on top of Group A. Both Alaska and Blackwater have already secured semi-finals spots.
After the Elite took a 9-5 lead, Barako Bull’s Janna Averilla and Ailien Bernadez each scored baskets to pull the Energy to within 7-9.
But an and-one play by Allana Lim gave Blackwater enough cushion at 11-7 even as Barako Bull missed long range shots towards the end.
The winless Barako Bull lost its third straight outing in the tournament.
In Group B action, NLEX romped past the Globalport Batang Pier, 15-7. The Road Warriors copped their fourth victory in as many games, tying Barangay Ginebra which holds an identical 4-0 record.
NLEX and Ginebra are now both in the semi-finals while Globalport suffered its second loss in three meetings.
Long bombs by Fria Bernardo and Anna Buendia pushed the NLEX lead ahead to 6-2 before three more points from Buendia increased the margin to 11-5.
Baskets by Katherine Sandel and Angelica Ortega followed by a two from Bernardo ended the game, 15-7.
