The Alaska Aces and Barangay Ginebra moved closer to clinching semi-finals berths, after continuing their streaks in the PBA Dickies 3-on-3 women’s basketball tournament Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Alaska scored an easy victory over TNT, 15-3, to notch their fourth win in as many games. The Aces have topped of Group A, while the Tropang Texters fell to 1-2.
Banjo Soriano was in-form, scoring 6 of the first 7 points for the Aces as the team went ahead 7-0.
Arabella Rivera ended the dry spell for TNT after scoring a basket inside, although back-to-back baskets from April Siat and two long range baskets from Rica Francisco won the match for Alaska.
In the first game, Ginebra overcame a tightly-contested start against San Miguel to pull out a 13-7 win. Ginebra improved to 4-0 in Group B while the Beermen dropped to 1-2.
A free throw by Mix Bautista gave Ginebra a 7-5 cushion, although back-to-back baskets by Nicole Garcia knotted the count at 7-all.
However, that was San Miguel’s final field goal as Angeli Gloriani then scored 5 of Ginebra’s last 6 points.
Gloriani first converted an and-one play before draining a two to push the lead to 12-7. Ginebra closed out the game with another Gloriani basket.
