The 78th Season of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines Men’s Basketball tournament will follow through an epic 77th season that saw a 60-year drought by the National University Bulldogs broken in a highly-emotional finals series.
This year will be a “passing of the torch”-type of year as majority of one of the greatest recruitment classes of all time, the 2011 recruitment class will have their swansong this season, while majority of the highly-touted recruitment class of 2015 step on the floor for the first time.
The pressure is also on for the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, De La Salle University Green Archers, and the Far Eastern University to take home the crown, as all three teams are stacked. Rebuilding teams like the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, the University of the East Red Warriors, and the Adamson University Soaring Falcons will gauge how long this process will take this season as well.
