Coming out of their disastrous first week double defeat at the hands of both UST and UP, the De La Salle University Green Tennisters were finally able to grab its first success of the season as they hand the men’s category’s first ever 5-0 sweep against university rival ADMU.
Starting of the merciless assault launched by the Taft based squadron was LA Cañizares who after a close match defeats ADMU’s Iyo Canlas in a close 6-3, 7-5 matchup. His success was soon followed by his fellow singles competitor Qoqo Allian, switched to the singles position, who regardless of showing difficulty, still defeats ADMU’s Calvin Canlas in an extremely close 6-3, 2-6, 5-7. Kyle Parpan also continues the success as he unleashed a volley of smashes against Ralph Antonio who was defeated in a one sided 6-1, 6-3 match.
The unrelenting beating continued on in the doubles category as the duo of Ernesto Pantua, and Akio Sy also delivered a close and tense three-match game which ended 4-6, 6-2, 6-7 against Ateneo de Manila’s AJ Rivero and Johan Esconde.
The second double duo of DLSU made up of Alvee Villamor and Dale Gorospe also engaged their assignment, ADMU’s Anton Punzalan and Erj Gatdula, with all guns blazing as they launched numerous attacks which resulted in the close 6-3, 7-5 match.
The success of the DLSU Green Tennisters in their tie against ADMU gives the DLSU squad its first victory while their ADMU counterparts still remain winless as of January 24.
