Far Eastern University woke up just in the nick of time to outlast also-ran Ateneo de Manila University, 22-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-21, 15-10, and keep its Final Four hopes alive in the UAAP Season 88 Collegiate Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Lady Tamaraws closed the elimination round with an 8-6 record and will now be rooting for the NU Lady Bulldogs against the UST Golden Tigresses in their ongoing match as of publishing time.
An NU win would drop UST to an identical 8-6 slate, creating a tie with FEU and forcing a playoff for the last Final Four ticket.
However, a victory by the Golden Tigresses would officially eliminate the Lady Tamaraws from contention.
If necessary, the playoff will be held on Saturday still at the Big Dome.
Taks Fujimoto has played her final game for Ateneo.
