Blackwater hands CJ Austria his PBA opportunity

CJ Austria is finally getting his shot in the PBA.

The 6-foot-3 swingman from Cabuyao, Laguna, has signed a one-year deal with Blackwater. The signing was made official on Tuesday.

Austria was selected 16th overall by NorthPort in the 2025 PBA Draft.

He later signed a one-year contract with Titan Ultra in February, but the Giant Risers eventually released him.

He will now take the roster spot of Jack Cruz-Dumont in the Bossing lineup.

Cruz-Dumont has been placed on the unrestricted free agents list, though he retains rights to receive his salary.

Before entering the PBA Draft, Austria suited up for Abra Solid North, averaging 4.2 points and 2.0 rebounds during their 2025 championship run.

He is also a former UAAP 3×3 Basketball MVP and a collegiate 5-on-5 champion.

Austria will make his Blackwater debut on Wednesday against San Miguel.
