La Salle seniors relishing last stretch of UAAP career

Getting into the Final Four is business as usual for a successful program like the De La Salle University Lady Spikers.

But, for their three graduating seniors, their final run holds immense sentimental value.

For five years, Kianna Dy, Majoy Baron, and Dawn Macandili have seen their roles change. But, they have always made the Finals.

Now the pillars of the team looking to clinch a three-peat, the trio are trying their best to focus on the road to the Finals rather than their fleeting collegiate career.

“Siyempre all-out na kami. It’s now or never every game. The next game, siyempre ‘yun ang crucial so kailangan double-time pa ‘yung work namin,” thought opposite spiker Dy, who led the Lady Spikers in scoring against the Ateneo Lady Eagles Sunday evening.

“Hindi pa kami nagpi-peak eh. Gusto namin, coming to the semis, mas buo kami as a team as mag-peak kami,” added team captain Baron.

“Siguro, we’re just focusing sa mga ginagawa namin everyday. Prepare for the game, then play our best pagdating ng game,” furthered Macandili, the team’s reliable libero.

“It’s too much to think about kasi kapag dadagdagan mo pa ‘yung pressure sa sarili mo.”

The road to the Finals goes through the NU Lady Bulldogs. Even if they soundly defeated them in the second round, the three seniors are not taking them lightly.UAAP-Season-80-DLSU-def-ADMU-Kim-Dy La Salle seniors relishing last stretch of UAAP career DLSU News UAAP Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Matagal na kami nakakapasok sa Final Four. So, we know na we can’t take anyone lightly.

“We’re gonna need to keep playing our best para makaabot kami sa Finals,” chimed Dy.

“Wala kaming luxury na mag-relax talaga. Kailangan ready kami for NU,” closed Macandili.
