The Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors finished their 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix elimination round campaign on a positive note, disarming the Smart Prepaid Giga Hitters and their record-setting import Gyselle Silva, 25-22, 18-25, 25-17, 25-18, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Silva, fresh from a 56-point outburst last Saturday, wrecked the Lady Realtors with 33 points. The Cuban’s 56-point performance is the third-most points scored by a women’s volleyball player in a pro league.
However, she was the only Giga Hitter in double-digits. Sta. Lucia, on the other hand, pulled off a balanced effort.
Bohdana Anisova led the Lady Realtors with 22 points, while Canadian Marisa Field managed 10 attacks, three blocks, and four aces.
“Siyempre, very wary kami doon nga kay Silva kasi sobrang lakas nga. Grabe ‘yung push niya sa scoring,” said Sta. Lucia head coach George Pascua.
“Nag-stick lang kami sa game plan. Kahit anong mangyari, stay disciplined lang kami at tiwala sa isa’t isa,” the decorated tactician pointed out.
The Lady Realtors finished the elimination round as the fifth seed, and will face Foton in the quarterfinals. Smart Prepaid, on the other hand, remained winless in 10 outings. They tackle defending champions F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the quarterfinals.
