Kobe Paras set to join 23 for 2023 cadets for Premier Cup

Kobe Paras is coming home

After consulting with his father Benjie Paras, the brass of Chooks-to-Go and Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes deemed that it was time to bring the second generation cager back home.

The announcement was made in Chooks-to-Go sports page, Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas.

Besides the need for the 20-year-old to join his family after leaving Cal State Northridge — his third college in two years — the reason behind bringing the 6-foot-6 cager back is that he needed to play organized basketball once more. The last time he did so was back in August of 2017 during the Southeast Asian Games.

Arriving this weekend, Paras will immediately be sent to the Meralco Gym in Pasig City so that he can start practicing with the 23 for 2023 cadets for the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup.

“Kobe needs to play, not just practice. The more actual games he gets, the better he’ll become. That’s why we’re including him in our Filoil and Jones Cup rosters,” shared Coach Chot Reyes.

“Just like what Chot said, Kobe needs to have repetitions. The last time he played organized basketball was back in the 2017 SEA Games. We need him in tip-top shape because we don’t know what will happen for the third window of the World Cup Qualifiers or the Asian Games diba?” pointed out Ronald Mascariñas, as his company will shoulder the cost of bringing Paras back home.

“For our part, we brought him back home because he has to come back home.”

Last year, Paras was part of the 3×3 team that competed in the 2017 FIBA 3X3 World Cup in Nantes, France, the Jones Cup team, and the SEA Games team.

Safe to say, Paras never turns his back on the country.

“Sabi ni Coach Chot and Boss Ronald umuwi ako e, di uuwi ako. Anything for Gilas and Chooks-to-Go!”
