Defending champions F2 Logistics Cargo Movers quickly dispatched the Foton Tornadoes, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17, to nab the top seed in the 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Facing a retooled foe, the Cargo Movers displayed their signature, championship-level balance and composure.
Setter Kim Fajardo tossed 25 excellent sets and had three spikers score in double-digits to lead F2 Logistics. Veteran Cha Cruz and Venezuelan reigning MVP Maria Jose Perez topped the Cargo Movers with 14 points apiece.
“Nakita siguro talaga ‘yung chemistry ng team,” relayed Fajardo, a three-time UAAP champion with the De La Salle University. “Importante kasi ‘yun. Each game, goal talaga ng team na mag-improve lang sa lahat ng bagay. Nagfo-focus lang talaga kami sa goals namin.”
Foton’s new import Channon Thompson led the Tornadoes with 11 points, while Dindin Santiago-Manabat added 10.
The Cargo Movers finished the elimination round with a 9-1 record, and will face the Smart Prepaid Giga Hitters in the quarterfinals. Foton ended their elimanation round campaign at fourth with a 5-5 slate.
