The University of Santo Tomas Tiger Spikers grabbed their third win and stayed on pace for a top-two spot in the UAAP Season 80 Men’s Volleyball Tournament after overwhelming the Adamson University Soaring Falcons, 25-20, 25-21, 14-25, 25-22, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
UST settled at a 3-1 record, tied with defending champions Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and their opponents on Sunday, the National University Bulldogs.
Arnold Bautista led UST with 16 points, while Joshua Umandal added 12 markers. The Tiger Spikers continued their habit of giving up errors, surrendering 38. Fortunately for them, Adamson was also generous with 35 errors.
“Kita naman na there are still a lot of issues we need to address. Pero, our execution is slowly getting better,” said UST head coach Odjie Mamon.
“Our game against NU is a big test talaga. We’re going to try our best para makakuha kami ng panalo against them,” he added.
Leo Miranda topped the Falcons with 12 markers, while Pao Pablico cooled off and managed 11 markers.
The Soaring Falcons (1-3) try to end their skid on Saturday against the De La Salle University Green Spikers (1-3).
