Zark’s-Lyceum cruises to second straight win


It was an all-out assault by the Zark’s Burger-Lyceum Jawbreakers, as they decimated the AMA Online Education Titans, 109-85, Thursday afternoon at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Cameroonian big man Mike Nzeusseu topscored for the Jawbreakers with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks, as six other players logged double-digits in scoring for the win.

He also delivered the thunderous slam over Andre Paras to finally put the nail in the coffin with 2:44 to play, as Zark’s grabbed a 102-80 advantage.

CJ Perez also delivered 15 markers, 14 boards, and five dimes, and Wilson Baltazar got 13 points powered by three triples. Jaycee Marcelino, MJ Ayaay, and Ralph Tansingco combined for 36 markers in the wire-to-wire triumph.

“Again, we want to keep on sustaining the energy,” said coach Topex Robinson, as his side rose to a 2-1 slate. “We want to change the way the D-League will be played. They have to keep up to us rather than us keeping up with the rest of the D-League.”

The back-to-back victories propelled Robinson to best the Jawbreakers’ maiden campaign in the 2017 Foundation Cup, where the team finished 1-9 under coach Jade Padrigao.

Zark’s Burger-Lyceum ran AMA to the ground, as they started the game with a 15-6 blast and took a lead as high as 27, 109-82, late in the game, courtesy of their 26 fastbreak points and 57 bench points.

Genmar Bragais carried the Titans with 29 points and nine rebounds, while Michael Cañete had 22 markers and seven boards for their second straight defeat.

The Jawbreakers will have a tough assignment as they will next face the Akari-Adamson Soaring Falcons on Tuesday, January 30, at 5:00pm. AMA, on the other hand, will have a one week break before taking on the Che’lu-San Sebastian Revellers at 1:00pm.
