Aldin Ayo, UST staff make first public appearance

There was a group of interested observers when the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs took on the league-leading Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eaglets, Saturday afternoon at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Closely watching the game on the stands was newly-minted Growling Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo. This was his first public appearance since being named as the chief tactician of the rebuilding program.

Together with Ayo were his coaching staff composed of McJour Luib, Kristoffer Co, Rene Bayna, and Bonnie Garcia.

Ayo, a two-time collegiate champion coach, held his first practice with the Growling Tigers last Friday.

The former DLSU Green Archers head coach politely declined when asked for an interview.

According to a school official, UST’s Institute of Physical Education and Athletics have asked the student-athletes of the Growling Tigers and its staff to stay mum regarding team affairs during this transition period.

The Tiger Cubs lost the game, 54-78. John Cansino paced the Tiger Cubs with 16 points to go along with 12 rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
