Jason Brickman steers Mono to OT win over Saigon

With compatriot Paul Zamar saddled in foul trouble, Jason Brickman steered the ship for the Mono Vampire, helping the Thailand-based club team to a 116-104 win over the Saigon Heat, Thursday evening at the Stadium 29 in Bangkok.

It was a much-needed bounce back win for Mono as it is coming off two straight losses, including a 105-112 home loss to Christian Standhardinger and the Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team last December 8. Mono Vampire ends the year with a 4-3 record.

Brickman, a six-foot Filipino-American floor general, played 45 minutes in the contest. The 26-year-old finished with 29 points on 9-for-14 shooting to go along with nine assists and four steals while committing just one turnover.

The reigning Best Point Guard in the Thailand Basketball League proved pivotal in overtime. Brickman assisted on a Darongpan Apiromvilaichai bucket that gave Mono a six-point edge, 108-102, with 2:59 left and another one with 1:18 on the clock that extended their lead to 13.

Zamar fouled out with 1:15 remaining in regulation but still managed to put up 13 markers.

Brickman is averaging 11.5 points, 4.33 rebounds, and a league-leading 9.0 assists so far while Zamar is posting norms of 16.0 points, 3.67 rebounds, and 3.83 assists.
