Rachel Daquis continues to prefer volleyball over muse duties

Decorated volleyball star Rachel Daquis has earned plenty of honors on the Taraflex. Off of it, the 30-year-old has also been tapped numerous times to be part of the delegation of PBA club teams on opening night.

After serving as the muse of the Globalport Batang Pier back in Season 40 and the San Miguel Beermen in Season 41, Daquis was chosen to be part of the NLEX Road Warriors, Sunday evening. This time around, it’s closer to home, as the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation-owned franchise works closely with Cignal Digital TV, the mother company of her club team.

Even in her third go, the ex-national team stalwart shared that an event like this doesn’t get old for her.

“Masakit pa rin sa paa, ang sakit na ng paa ko!” she quipped.

“Noong una three inches, naging four inches, tapos naging six, yun ang pinagkaiba.”

Moreover, even if injuries have already started to take their toll on her volleyball career, Daquis shared that she would rather play on the court than just be part of an entourage.

“Mas gusto ko pa rin volleyball shoes,” Daquis expressed.

Moreover, she already has redemption on her mind as the Cignal HD Spikers finished a disappointing fifth place in the recently-concluded Chooks-to-Go/PSL Grand Prix. But if time allows her, Daquis shared in jest that she wants to at least be part of the festivities for the years to come.

“Iikutin natin lahat ng teams! Joke lang…”

Three down, nine more to go.
