Far Eastern University volleyball pioneer Florentino “Kid” Santos died early Wednesday morning due to cardiac arrest. He was 67.
Santos played a huge role in the majority of FEU’s 54 UAAP title runs in the men’s and women’s division as a player, coach, and program director. Up until this year, Santos was still serving as the Volleyball Progam Head of FEU.
In his decades in volleyball, Santos has won numerous international competitions with the National Team. He has also mentored some of the best coaches today, including De La Salle University’s Ramil De Jesus, Cignal’s George Pascua, Petron’s Shaq Delos Santos, and San Beda College’s Nes Pamilar.
Santos is survived by his three children, all of whom are currently coaching volleyball, and his wife, a Physical Education teacher at FEU.
