With morale at an ‘all-time low’ in Bren, Duckey looks to switch things up

Despite suffering their third consecutive loss to start the season, Bren Esports head coach Francis “Duckeyyy” Glindro is still seeing some glimmer of hope that his wards can bounce back in the coming days.

Fielding in a roster composed of amateur standouts, Bren Esports seemed to be struggling with chemistry and execution to start the season.

This resulted in a 0-2 start in the MPL Philippines Season Nine opening week, followed by another tough loss on Saturday night at the hands of RSG PH.

According to Duckeyyy, the players’ experience in the amateur scene, despite how great, is still not enough. After all, MPL is still MPL.

“Right now what we need is more of like understanding how they are feeling,” said the former EVOS Legends assistant coach.

“Because yun nga, kagaya ng sinabi ko before these are rookies and despite na sobrang dami na nilang experience when it comes sa amateur tournaments, MPL is MPL.”

Duckeyyy also shared that he already had a series of conversations with the players to address the issues that are hampering the team’s campaign.

While none of it has been sticking so far, the veteran coach out of Quezon bared that the team is showing their willingness to improve and change their mindset.

“It’s a totally different kind of pressure so kagaya rin ng sinabi ko kanina I’ve been employing a lot of talks, motivational talks with them. Unfortunately, right now, all those things that I’m throwing at the wall, nothing’s sticking,” expressed Duckeyyy.

“I’m still trying to find yung sweet spot on how to approach things like fixing their mindset, but for now I’m seeing some glimmer of hope,” he added.

He also admitted that the team’s morale took a hit following the pile of losses. But for now, all they can do is take things one step at a time.

“Morale is at an all-time low that’s for sure.

“Nakikitaan ko naman sila na they’re willing to change their mindset. There’s still minor resistance. To be honest, I’m quite happy with the result today. I’m not really into the losses, it doesn’t really matter, it’s part of the game. I’m more after yung kung papaano sila nag laro today. They’re performing,” he further said.

Heading to the game tomorrow against the streaking Nexplay EVOS, Duckeyyy is looking to make some serious changes in the starting roster to take some pressure off the main five.

“Yes, we will be making some adjustments for sure starting tomorrow just to relieve some pressure off the rest of the team,” he said.

“Of course, a breath of fresh air and new insights from the new players as well. It’s a plan naman all along, that’s why we have a 10-man roster.”

Bren Esports, who now holds a 0-3 slate, is currently at the bottom of the standings tied with Omega Esports.

The team will take on Nexplay EVOS tomorrow at 6:00 PM.
