Riot Games’ mobile Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game, League of Legends: Wild Rift, continues to evolve the mobile gaming landscape with the release of Patch 7.3.
Positioned as a major gameplay development, the update goes beyond simple numerical tweaks, overhauling several of Wild Rift’s core systems. Its central focus is on making build choices more meaningful, giving players more ways to carry games, and creating a battlefield that heavily rewards strategic decision-making.
Marksmen Get Their Moment
Patch 7.3 puts the “carry” back into hard-hitting ADCs by strengthening the fantasy of scaling into a powerful basic-attack threat. Base critical strike damage has increased from 175% to 200%, while the Attack Speed cap has been raised from 2.5 to 3 attacks per second.
Riot aims to make crit marksmen rely more meaningfully on basic attacks as they scale, making Attack Speed a more important consideration when building their champions. This is not simply a systemic numbers buff, as numerous marksmen—including Ezreal, Kai’Sa, Twitch, Lucian, Caitlyn, Draven, Miss Fortune, Samira, Zeri, Jinx, Vayne, and Ashe—have also received targeted adjustments.
To support these changes, the item ecosystem has undergone a major refresh. Marksmen can look forward to new or redesigned options such as Hexoptics, Yun Tal Wildarrows, Fiendhuler Bolts, Stormrazor, Rapid Firecannon, and Immortal Shieldbow. A shift in sustain also introduces Lifesteal, which maintains its strength while enhancing basic attacks, on-hit damage, and abilities treated as basic attacks.
Support champions, one of the major backbones of marksmen in Wild Rift, have also received a makeover. Echoes of Helia is now positioned specifically for offensive supports who want to turn damage into healing, alongside major changes to Ardent Censer, Staff of Flowing Waters, and Harmonic Echo.
The Rift Changes: Jungling, Turrets, and Pushing
Winning is not solely about taking fights on the Rift, and Patch 7.3 proves just that by transforming the jungle into a more farm-focused and rewarding environment. The update eases the traditional pressure on junglers to constantly gank, instead rewarding them more heavily for clearing camps and shifting greater responsibility onto laners to win their own matchups.
Ultimately, the number one priority for junglers is now consistent camp clearing. Efficiently clearing camps provides bonus gold and progresses Smite through Ecosystem Protection stacks, allowing it to evolve from 600 to 1,000 and eventually 1,400 true damage. Upgraded Smite translates directly to faster and more reliable attempts at securing crucial epic monsters such as Baron Nashor, Rift Herald, and Dragons.
The new strategic mandate is clear: gank when it matters, but do not sacrifice camp clearing simply to chase champion kills.
In this update, the jungle is your economy. Junglers receive bonus gold for consistently clearing camps, alongside a new catch-up mechanic for those who fall behind. Protecting, maintaining, and efficiently farming these camps matters more than ever.
Epic monsters are also receiving significant adjustments to match this new pacing, as they will now scale based on the average level of players in the match rather than simply becoming stronger over time.
Strategic Pushing: A Massive Turret Overhaul
Turret mechanics are also undergoing a massive overhaul to complement these strategic map changes. Turret plating will now expand across outer, inner, and inhibitor turrets while persisting permanently. Additionally, the new Crystalline Overgrowth mechanic allows turrets to accumulate crystals that can be detonated by a champion’s first basic attack.
These structural adjustments fundamentally shift how teams approach map control and sieging. By altering turret defenses and introducing dynamic new ways to interact with them, Patch 7.3 forces players to make more calculated decisions about when and where to apply lane pressure. Consequently, it is now more important than ever to ensure turrets are not left unattended or undefended.
Winning is no longer just about conquering team fights. It now requires a coordinated effort to convert those advantages into meaningful objective damage, ensuring that teams that strategically dictate the pace of the map are rewarded.
Expanding the Champions Roster: Hwei, Sylas, and Rek’Sai
Leading the charge in Patch 7.3 is Hwei, the Visionary, who officially joins Wild Rift on September 22. As a highly flexible mid-laner, Hwei brings significant tactical versatility to the Rift with three unique abilities.
The first, Subject: Disaster, offers various ways to destroy opponents, while Subject: Serenity provides diverse options to support himself and his allies. Finally, Subject: Torment plunges enemies into differing levels of sheer terror, ensuring that Hwei can readily face any challenge thrown at him.
Joining Hwei as Patch 7.3’s newest champions are Sylas and Rek’Sai. Built for explosive bursts, Sylas features an abduct ability that serves as a fluid stun-to-knock-up combo, alongside Kingslayer healing that scales with missing health. His iconic ultimate allows him to completely steal an enemy’s ultimate.
Meanwhile, Rek’Sai enters the fray as a fierce team-fight starter. Her Unburrow ability knocks up nearby champions, while her back fin helps her ultimate sense nearby enemies no matter where they hide, allowing her to track their movements before striking the final blow.
Ranked Refinements and New Game Modes
For competitive players, Patch 7.3 revamps the S/A and MVP scoring system with a fairer and more tailored evaluation algorithm. Instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all metric, the system now evaluates a player’s performance based on their specific lane and champion role. Playing well will now yield more Ranked energy, rewarding high-impact performances.
Legendary Ranked is also being optimized, streamlining the Seasonal Entry Threshold for former Grand Masters and introducing a new trial format that allows top performers to fast-track their way out of the Legendary Commander Rank.
Finally, players looking for fresh ways to play can dive into two new game modes.
In Rift Rumble, three-player teams battle it out on a brand-new symmetrical map. The goal is simple: get kills and fight to capture ultimate stones that can fundamentally change a champion’s kill structure.
Adding to the chaos, the AAA Realm will undergo constant changes, with a music-themed season and new augment cards designed to keep every match fresh.
Wild Rift continues to push the boundaries of the mobile MOBA experience, giving players greater strategic depth, exciting new champions, and dynamic new ways to enjoy the game.
