Justine Baltazar shines in La Salle’s rout of Nagoya Gakuin


Building off their win over Tsinghua, the De La Salle University Green Archers romped the Nagoya Gakuin University, 95-68, Wednesday afternoon at the Kaohsiung Arena in Taiwan.

This is La Salle’s second win in the 2018 BLIA University Cup.

Justine Baltazar was impressive in the win, picking up a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. But it wasn’t just Baltazar who had a hand in the whitewashing.

Aljun Melecio continued his stellar campaign with 14 points, six rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Kiwi student-athlete Taane Samuel chipped 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Already holding a double-digit lead entering the final frame, the Green Archers sensed blood, turning it up on both ends in the final 10 minutes of the contest.

Mark Dyke had 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field.

La Salle shot just 3-of-15 from downtown, but made it up by dominating on the inside.

The Green Archers will next face Chien Hsin University of Science & Technology on Thursday at 2:15pm.
