VisMin Super Cup-Mindanao finally back home in Pagadian

PAGADIAN, ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR — After multiple adjustments, the 2021 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup Mindanao Leg finally had its formal opening ceremonies, Saturday at the Pagadian City Gymnasium here.

The league played its first six game days at Ipil Provincial Gymnasium in Zamboanga Sibugay while waiting for Zamboanga del Sur’s quarantine status to go down to general community quarantine (GCQ).

COO Rocky Chan said that this league, running during a pandemic, is more than basketball.

“This is not just basketball. This is the livelihood for the players, coaches, referees, staff, and everyone,” shared league COO Rocky Chan.

Meanwhile, league consultant Chino Trinidad also reminded the players and coaches in attendance to respect the game.

Due to health and safety protocols, only the head coach, the captain, and a homegrown player represented the squads during the parade of teams.

Pagadian homegrown Rich Guinitaran led the oath of sportsmanship, while league head of basketball operations Chelito Caro declared the games open.

Also gracing the event were Pagadian mayor Sammy Co and vice mayor Maphilindo Obaob, while Zamboanga Del Sur governor Victor Yu and congresswoman Divina Yu sent their messages to the league virtually.

Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. President Ronald Mascariñas also delivered a message, sending his greetings to the regional pro league.

As a sign of gratitude, the league handed out plaques of appreciation to Mascariñas, Co, governor Yu, and Pagadian team owner Dodong Pamaran.
