V.League: Bagunas detonates 42 points as Oita Miyoshi ends campaign on high note

Bryan Bagunas went berserk to end Oita Miyoshi’s 2021-22 V.League Division 1 season on a high note.

Weisse Adler escaped VC Nagano in a nailbiter to stop their 11-game skid, 20-25, 25-19, 30-32, 25-21, 15-13, at the Shiojiri City Gymnasium.

Bagunas exploded for a career-high 42 points spread through 36 attacks, three blocks, and three service aces in the victory.

The 6-foot-5 Filipino also had an efficient day, going 36-of-62 in his attacks, including a dominant 17-of-22 clip from the backrow.

Most importantly, Oita Miyoshi finally halted its 11-game slide and improved to 6-30, a game ahead of the Tridents at 5-31 at the bottom.

Helping the Venezuelan import Emerson Rodriguez-less Weisse Adler are Kota Yamada, Kyogo Kawaguchi, and Shota Fujiwara who combined for 41 points.

Rivan Nurmulki paced VC Nagano with 24 points while Kota Ikeda chipped in 19 points of his own.

Ryoma Yanuki also had a game at the net, tallying six blocks to go with five spikes for 11 points in the losing cause.

Bagunas and his Weisse Adler will participate in the V1/V2 qualification match in April after finishing at ninth place.
