The UAAP will pay tribute to the league’s past and current student-athletes when Season 80 officially closes its curtains on Wednesday at the Far Eastern University Auditorium, inside the FEU Morayta campus.
The short ceremony, which will start at 4:30 p.m., will focus the league’s greats over the years and will be highlighted by the awarding of the Athletes of the Year.
The league will also honor the athlete-scholars who not only excelled in sports, but also in academics.
The general championship winners in the seniors and juniors division will also be announced, following by the turnover from FEU to the National University as the league’s next hosts.
NU then will make an introductory teaser of the Season 81 logo after accepting the hosting duties.
The Athlete of the Year will come from a MVP from among the league’s 28 events from 15 sports, with credentials for competing internationally as a plus to win the biggest honors.
There will be two awardees in the seniors and juniors division – one for team sports and one for individual sports for high school and college.
Last season, Adamson University softball standout Angelie Ursabia and Ateneo de Manila University swimming star Aldo Batungbacal shared the limelight by winning the seniors Athlete of the Year honors.
