Adrian “Toshi” Bacallo’s back-to-back MVP performances with Esmeralda gave Smart Omega its first win in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Seven at the expense of Nexplay Esports, 2-0, on Friday evening.
Omega and Nexplay figured in a nip-and-tuck affair in the early goings of Game Two, but a crucial clash at the bottom lane led by Adrian “Toshi” Bacallo’s Esmeralda ultimately gave the advantage to Omega.
The team then sealed the luminous lord at the 13:22-mark which spelled doom for Nexplay.
Toshi, who finished the tight 18-17 Game Two win with a game-high six kills along with four assists and a death, won MVP honors.
Smart Omega’s old form was in full display as early as Game One, with Jankurt “KurTzy” Matira’s Wanwan spearheading the team fights while Salic “Hadjizy” Imam’s Ling focused on the macro objectives.
The tank-support duo of EJ “Heath” Esperanza (Paquito) and Jeniel “Haze” Bata-anon (Kagura) allowed Omega to have full control of the map.
After a crucial pickoff on James “JEYMZ” Gloria (Alice), Omega secured the luminous lord with ease and eventually, the 1-0 lead.
Despite his silent performance in Game One, Toshi (Esmeralda) snatched the MVP award with a 3-1-3 line.
The Smart-backed squad, which now boasts a 1-1 standing, is now tied with Execration (1-1) at the third spot in Group B with three points each while Nexplay Esports (1-2) retained the second spot with four points.
Smart Omega will next face Blacklist International on Saturday, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. while Nexplay Esports looks to get back in the win column against Work Auster Force at 2:00 p.m. this Friday.
