Back in August 7, 2015, Thirdy Ravena took to Twitter and expressed how much he would love to represent the Philippines on the international basketball stage one day.
“What a great honor to play for the country in the #FIBA2019 games. #DreamLang,” Tweeted Ravena, then 18 years young.
Since then, the 6-foot-3 swingman has won two UAAP championship, has been crowned Finals MVP twice, and has competed in the William Jones Cup.
Nearly four years later, Ravena’s wish has come true.
Ravena, now 22 and a star of Ateneo Blue Eagles, is included in the Gilas Pilipinas squad that will battle Qatar in the sixth window of the FIBA World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers.
And he couldn’t be happier.
“IT WAS ALL A DREAM. 4 years ago I was just a young kid watching my kuyas play in the FIBA 2015 World Championships. Who knew that this would happen?” Ravena said in a post.
“Thank You, Lord. All You.”
The team is expected to deliver in the sixth window, as Gilas is in a precarious spot in Group F with a 5-5 card.
