Terrence Romeo has finally participated in Gilas Pilipinas’ Monday night practice sessions after weeks of recovery, and the 25-year-old scorer aims to regain his shape as he goes back to balling after being stricken with typhoid fever.
“Dami kong dapat habulin, unang-una yung kundisyon ko,” pointed out the Globalport Batang Pier star shortly after Gilas’ practice at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City. “Kailangan makahabol ako sa kanila.
“Nasa drills pa lang naman kami ngayon. So far medyo ok naman, and siguro naman nakakasunod na ‘ko kahit papaano.”
Being stricken with typhoid fever had really taken its toll on Romeo, as it hindered him not just in PBA-related activities but also with Gilas. The soft-spoken Cavite native even apologized to coach Chot Reyes despite being excused.
“Humingi ako ng pasensya kasi hindi ako nakakapunta,” shared Romeo. “Gustong-gusto ko na makapag-practice kaso talagang ganoon eh, may pagkakataon na bigla kang magkakasakit.
“Basta pa-practice lang ako kung anuman ipapagawa sa’kin ni coach Chot.”
Now that he is back in the fold with the Nationals, Romeo is excited as he and the team, along with new faces, embark on yet another journey for Pilipinas basketball.
“Excited kasi panibagong makaka-practice, panibagong teammates, so excited sa mangyayari.”
