Terrence Romeo defends Gilas from naysayers: ‘Wala kaming pakialam sa inyo’

All for one, one for all

The players of Gilas Pilipinas have no regrets over their actions during the Philippines versus Australia tilt, Monday evening.

For Terrence Romeo, they were simply standing their ground and defending their teammate and homecourt.

Kami magkaka-teammate sa loob kailangan namin magtulungan,” he tweeted.

“Hindi namin puwede pabayaan yung isa’t isa.”

With 4:01 left in the third frame, Roger Pogoy figured in a confrontation with Chris Goulding and later on a physical encounter with Daniel Kickert.

As Thon Maker tried to joined the fray, Romeo threw a sucker punch to the back of Maker’s head. Maker tried to retaliate with a flying kick but it badly missed.

Romeo was one of the nine Gilas players ejected from the game.

As the tweet drew mixed reviews from social media, Romeo rebutted the naysayers — saying that it was their job to stand their ground as Filipinos.
