Team UAAP-Philippines Ready To Make A Splash!

Before the 79th UAAP Season kicks off this September, July marks the return of the biennial ASEAN University Games (AUG). The 18th edition will be hosted by Singapore, and swimming is set to be held on July 12-15, 2016 at the state-of-the-art OCBC Aquatic Centre – the venue of last year’s Southeast Asian Games.

In the previous edition of AUG in Laos back in 2014, the Philippines, bannered by Ateneo standouts Jessie Lacuna and Hannah Dato, managed to bring home four gold medals, three silver medals, and nine bronze medals. This year, with five male and five female athletes, all from UAAP member universities, Team UAAP-Philippines is raring to better its fourth place finish.

While SEA Games silver medalist Jessie Lacuna will not be part of the delegation, as he is training for the Rio Olympics this August, Hannah Dato will return to compete in a couple of events. Joining her are AUG veterans Aldo Batungbacal, Axel Ngui, Carlo Silva, and Ariana Herranz. Backstopping them are newcomers Neil Puyo, Eman Dapat, Raegan Gavino, Joy Rodgers, and Nadine Tee Ten.

Tune in to Tiebreaker Times for daily news of their performance!
