By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

Team Liquid Philippines kicked off their MPL Philippines Season 14 campaign with a thrilling 2-1 victory over RSG Philippines on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

The clash between the Cavaliers and the Raiders marked the first full three-game series of the season, showcasing intense competition from both sides.

In the decisive Game 3, Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales (Karrie) and Jaypee “Jaypee” Cruz (Jawhead) delivered standout performances, combining for an impressive KDA of seven kills and 18 assists, which propelled Team Liquid PH to victory.

“Mas nakalamang na kami sa meta kase noong napagpa-practicean namin sa ESL at Kazakhstan, yun lang yung [dahilan ng pag-panalo]. Yung Game 1 siguro nagkaroon lang ng mis-coms,” said Coach Cjay, reflecting on the game against RSG.

In Game 1, Clarense “Kusey” Camilo (Moskov) led his team early with significant kills, using his Spear of Destruction ultimate to secure a Triple Kill in the 10th minute and disrupt Team Liquid PH’s composure.

In the following game, Liquid PH had an opportunity to finish the match in the 13th minute but RSG Philippines defended their base tightly. However, in the 16th minute, Bennyqt (Roger) once again showcased their signature split-push strategy, ending the game with a kill score of 9-3.

Team Liquid PH will aim to maintain their momentum when they face TNC Pro Team on August 23 at 5:00 p.m. Meanwhile, RSG Philippines will seek to bounce back in their upcoming match against Aurora on Sunday at 7:30 p.m., with both games taking place at the same venue.
