Korean squad T1 has officially signed Filipino Dota 2 icon Carlo “Kuku” Palad for its Dota Pro Circuit 2021: Season One Southeast Asia Regional League upper division campaign, Monday.
Kuku played as a stand-in for T1 in the BTS Pro Series Season 4: Southeast Asia. There, they ended at third place following a 0-2 sweep from TNC Predator in the lower bracket final.
Kuku, along with Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon, were already listed as stand-ins last January 1 during the DPC roster registration, but was only officially signed by the organization today.
The 24-year-old offlaner is also the head coach of Smart Omega Esports, who is currently in the lower division.
Kuku and Whitemon will be reuniting with former Geek Fam teammates Karl “Karl” Jayme and Kenny “Xepher” Deo, who joined T1 last October and November, respectively.
Geek Fam ruled the Southeast Asia region last year after back-to-back wins in the BTS Pro Series. It was later forced to shut down its operations last September due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Souliya “JaCkky” Khoomphetsavong completes the T1 five.
T1 was one of the four teams to receive a direct invite to the DPC-SEA upper division. It will open its campaign on January 20 against Fnatic.
