Steph Curry opens Season 81

An opening ceremony like never before

Three-time NBA Champion Steph Curry was the highlight of the UAAP Season 81 Opening Ceremony.

Curry, who is Manila for a shoe tour, led the oath of sportsmanship in front of the team captains of each UAAP member school.

Pop acts Sponge Cola, James Reid, and Minzy also joined the festivities.

And it all begins here.

“In Season 80, we celebrated greatness. But striving for greatness never really ends. It all begins here as we enter a new decade in the UAAP,” said NU’s board of trustees member Dr. RJ Ermita.

“There’s a new vibrance among our student-athletes. This excellence will be felt by the thousands of new students and new fans. Welcome to your new UAAP experience.

“Beyond the competition, we celebrate the value of sports. Ladies and gentlemen, sports is life. Welcome to the UAAP. It all begins here,” added Ermita.

Also gracing the event were the rest of the board, namely Fr. Marcelo Manamtim of Adamson, Bro. Raymundo Suplido of La Salle, Dr. Michael Alba of FEU, Dr. Ester Garcia of UE, Chancellor Michael Tan of UP, Fr. Hermenio Dagohoy of UST, and Fr. Jett Villarin of Ateneo.

The NU Chorale opened the ceremony, giving a rendition of A Million Dreams.
