Save Point: Curry 12 ‘Gravity’ a tribute to the greatest shooter’s legacy

Stephen Curry, regarded as the greatest shooter in basketball history, made the highly anticipated debut of the Curry 12 with Under Armour during the 2024 Paris Olympics, unveiling two exclusive ‘Team USA’ colorways.

Curry not only captivated fans with his exceptional skills in the Summer Games, but also turned heads on basketball’s biggest stage with the eye-catching style and design of the Curry 12.

His standout performance helped lead Team USA to victory against Serbia in the championship match. There, he secured his first-ever Olympic gold medal while solidifying the sneaker’s debut as one of the most strategically planned launches to date.

Following the limited releases of the ‘Team USA’ colorways and the ‘Curry Tour’ collection earlier this year, fans can now get their hands on Curry’s 12th signature sneaker, with its first global launch featuring the ‘Gravity’ colorway – the first one of the three-part ‘Galaxy’ pack.

CLOSE LOOK

Inspired by how Curry attracts defenders with his deadly three-point shooting, the Curry 12 ‘Gravity’ design mirrors this force with its light gray upper and black accents on the side.

The splash of neon green on the TPU sidewall, meanwhile, is designed to replicate the floating particles that traverse the universe.

The Curry Brand emblem on the tongue is black with neon green outlines. Additionally, the Curry Brand logo appears on both sides of the shoes – one in black with neon green accents and the other embedded in white.

The words “Created for the best shooter ever” and “Wardell Stephen Curry ” are also featured at the edge of the molded tongue, paying tribute to the Davison product’s legacy and unparalleled shooting ability.

A dedication to Curry’s family is featured on the outsole, with the names of his wife, Ayesha, and his children, Riley, Canon, and Caius, inscribed in the center.

LOCAL RELEASE

The Curry 12 hit the Philippine market on October 18, with Under Armour, in partnership with Kings of the Court, hosting the Curry 12 Invitational – which featured eight high school basketball teams – to celebrate the release.

Colegio de San Juan de Letran, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Mapua University, University of Perpetual Help, San Beda University, University of the East, Far Eastern University, and University of Santo Tomas battled it out in a single-round elimination for a chance to win the Curry 12 ‘Galaxy.’

Long-time Under Armour ambassador and PBA veteran Sean Anthony of the NLEX Road Warriors graced the event.

“I actually played in the Curry 12s, I have the USA edition and I’ve been playing with them. I think they’re extra comfy. I feel like there’s a little more cushion over the Curry 11 so you can feel a little more comfort when you play. I always love playing with the Currys,” said Anthony.

The Curry 12 ‘Gravity’ is now available on UA.com and in select retail stores.
