SPIN.ph photogs place top two in PBA Photo Contest, PDI completes podium


During the halftime break of Game 5 of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals, some of the best photographers in the country took center stage.

The league crowned the best photos of the season. And it was two snapshots from SPIN.ph that shone the brightest.

Young guns Marlo Cueto and Jerome Ascano placed first and second, while veteran August dela Cruz of the Philippine Daily Inquirer completed the podium.

Marlo Cueto’s The Blind Side (SPIN.ph)

Cueto’s photo The Blind Side was adjudged the best photo of the season, as it captured Phoenix’s Eugene Phelps picking up a rebound with his headband wrapped around his eyes against Ginebra’s Justin Brownlee.

Jerome Ascano’s One for Ball, Ball for One (SPIN.ph)

For his part, Ascano – who has Olympic experience under his belt – placed second with his photo captioned One for Ball, Ball for One. In his photo, pint-sized Phoenix guard LA Revilla was protecting a loose ball, and even managed to call a timeout against lanky defenders Gabe Norwood and Jewel Ponferada.
