Snapdragon: ECHO opens campaign on a high

ECHO and AP Bren emerged as the biggest winners after the first day of the Snapdragon Pro Series Season 3 SEA – Challenge Finals.

The reigning MPL Philippines champion took care of business against the upset-seeking Yoodo Red Giants, 2-0, before fending off EVOS Icon in three games.

Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya on Terizla took charge in ECHO’s Game 1 win over the Red Giants but Filipino gold laner Red “Super Red” Bordeos’ Beatrix led the Malaysian squad’s bounce back win in Game 2 to even the series.

With the series on the line, ECHO jungler Justine “Zaida” Palma put on a dominant performance on Karina, snowballing in the first eight minutes of the contest by scoring 11 quick kills. He finished with 13 kills and seven assists in the 21-6 Game 3 win.

Unlike in their series opener, the defending world champions actually started the match against EVOS Icon on the wrong foot. ECHO suffered a lopsided defeat in Game 1 but Alston “Sanji” Pabico’s Yve starred in Game 2 to help the Filipino squad tie the series.

Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera’s superb playmaking on Franco allowed ECHO to complete the reverse sweep, 16-6, in Game 3. He tallied nine assists against two deaths in 19 minutes.

On the other hand, Bren Esports fended off reigning MSC champion ONIC Esports, 2-1, to kick-start their campaign before sweeping Todak, 2-0 while RSG PH took out sister squad RSG SG, 2-0, before absorbing a massive upset at the hands of Yoodo Red Giants.

ECHO took the early lead in Pool A with a 2-0 record while Bren Esports (2-0) and Todak (0-2) are at the second and fifth spots, respectively.(Jan Marcus Montevirgen)
