SMART Omega adds Wild Rift team, taps PH’s best LOL players

Smart Omega Esports dropped a huge bomb Friday evening after unveiling its star-studded League of Legends: Wild Rift roster composed of the best PC and mobile players in the country today.

“Here’s the moment you all have been waiting for… We are proud to announce that Omega Esports is now entering the world of League of Legends: Wild Rift,” Omega’s statement read.

“Our lineup is composed of professional players that have played multiple MOBA games in the past and they’re now ready to rumble on Wild Rift.”

Known as one of the strongest top laners in Southeast Asia during LoL’s glory days, the legendary Jaiby “JLC” Paglingayen is now looking to make his mark in the mobile scene with the Smart-backed squad.

Another LoL PC veteran in Ronel “Stronger” Tan will join JLC in the lineup as the team’s support. Stronger – who took a three-year break from the esports scene – has played different game titles professionally such as Dragon Nest and Heroes of the Storm.

Meanwhile, Arena of Valor veteran John Lloyd “Impressive” Dela Cruz will play the jungler role for Omega. Impressive was the first Filipino player to reach the Master division in Wild Rift.

Completing the squad are young guns Maynard “Arise” Limon and Gerald “Taymlaps” Bermundo.

Taymlaps, who will be carrying the ADC role, is currently the highest-ranking Filipino in the entire server. Arise, who became part of the Philippines’ top five, will be the team’s mid laner.

Omega Esports now has a total of four game titles with Wild Rift joining its Tekken, Dota 2, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang teams.
