Tanquingcen moves to Saint Benilde as consultant

La Salle assistant coach Siot Tanquingcen decides to cross Taft Avenue

Green Archers assistant coach Siot Tanquingcen has parted ways with the De La Salle University to help mentor their neighbors, the College of Saint Benilde.

According to a source closely monitoring the situation and, later on, confirmed by Green Archers head coach Aldin Ayo, Tanquingcen will serve as consultant to the CSB Blazers for their upcoming NCAA Season 93 campaign.

“Wala na siya sa amin,” Ayo told Tiebreaker Times. “Consultant na siya ng CSB.”

According to a source, the 44-year-old, will help guide newly-minted Blazers head coach TY Tang in his transition to chief mentor. He will be part of a staff that also has Charles Tiu of Mighty Sports, big man head coach Ali Peek, and Xavier High School head coach Gian Carlos Tan.

Prior to being an assistant coach with La Salle two years ago, the UST alumnus was head coach of numerous professional teams, including the San Miguel Beermen, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, and defunct-franchise Barako Bull Energy.

Tanquingcen brings 12 years of experience to a young Saint Benilde coaching staff.

Last season, the Saint Benilde Blazers finished with a 1-17 slate, only winning their last game of the season. On the other hand, CSB’s new consultant has won a UAAP crown with the Green Archers.
