NLEX and assistant coach Siot Tanquingcen have mutually parted ways following the expiration of the coach’s contract.
The Road Warriors made the announcement on Wednesday evening.
“The NLEX Road Warriors announce the departure of Assistant Coach Siot Tangquingcen following the conclusion of the PBA 50th Season Philippine Cup,” read the team’s statement.
“Coach Siot was an integral part of the Road Warriors’ coaching staff, bringing professionalism, strong basketball acumen, and a genuine commitment to player development. Despite his short tenure, his contributions had a lasting and meaningful impact on both the team and the overall program.”
When Jong Uichico assumed the head coaching role of NLEX last June 2024, he tapped his longtime deputy Tanquingcen as his lead assistant.
Tanquingcen has also served as the head of basketball operations at National University since 2020. However, his responsibilities with NU required him to miss several NLEX games and practices.
Ultimately, Tanquingcen opted to remain with NU, a position he could not step away from.
“The organization extends its sincere gratitude to Coach Siot for his dedication and service. Both parties have mutually agreed not to extend his initial contract, and the Road Warriors wish him continued success in his future endeavors,” the statement continued.
With this development, Borgie Hermida has been promoted as Uichico’s lead assistant beginning the 2026 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
