Sean Anthony to be hailed as PBA PC Defensive Player of the Year

When it rains, it pours for Sean Anthony.

The do-it-all NorthPort forward gets another major award after being named as the Defensive Player of the Year by the PBA Press Corps.

The honor comes in the heels of Anthony earning a first-ever Mythical First team selection and a place in the All-Defensive team during the recent PBA Leo Awards.

Anthony, 34, is going to receive the honor during the 2019 PBA Press Corps Awards Night which will be held at a later date following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The event was supposed to be held last March 16 at the Novotel Manila at Araneta Center and to be aired over Cignal TV.

This marks the first time Anthony will be receiving the award, which has the likes of Chris Ross, June Mar Fajardo, Marc Pingris, Chris Jackson, Freddie Abuda, Gabe Norwood, among others, as its past recipients.

Poy Erram was the last to be accorded the honor in 2018.

The Defensive Player of the Year is one of 11 awards to be handed out during the affair, now on its 26th year.

Earlier announced as recipients of the different honors were Terrence Romeo (Quality Minutes), CJ Perez (Scoring champion), June Mar Fajardo (Order of Merit), and Game of the Season (NorthPort vs. NLEX).

Others include the All-Rookie team (Perez, Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon, Bobby Ray Parks, and Abu Tratter), All Interview team (Kiefer Ravena, Christian Standhardinger, Beau Belga, Vic Manuel, Arwind Santos, coach Yeng Guiao) and the D-League Finals MVP (Thirdy Ravena – Aspirants Cup and Hesed Gabo – Foundation Cup).
